I'm relocating to Raleigh, NC. Are there alot of opportunities to work as a hairstylist/cosmetologist?
I will be moving in August, and was curious to see if there are good salons/spas to work at in or around Raleigh. I'm having no luck finding anything, but I haven't visited. I make about 10.50/hr...is the pay any different there to make up for cheap housing?

You should be able to look up salons Raleigh and Cary on a yellow page web site and call them. Also the local news paper web site might have some jobs listed.

In Raleigh there are 3 big malls - all with salons: Crabtree Valley Mall, Triangle Town Center, and North Hills. There are also million of the Supercuts/Great Clips places in town that are packed and I am certain after tips the cutters are making more than $10.50/hr. If you're good, there are lots of places to work! http://www.RaleighFree.com Enjoy your move!

I worked in Raleigh for one year and thought Knightdale was ideal. Knightdale is southern with the convenience of the city, it's about 15 minutes from Raleigh and it's right off of Route 64 and 64 will dump you right into the heart of Raleigh. There are plenty of stores in the area and it's quiet. I thought about moving there, but I returned to Maryland instead. I commuted from Nashville (1 hour from Raleigh) close to Rocky Mount (very rural and peaceful). Best wishes.

I lived in Raleigh for a few years and I loved it. Raleigh is a growing city and the smaller towns surrounded Raleigh are growing as well. I still visit Raleigh and I am amazed how the small town of Knightdale is turning into a large area. The smaller towns I would suggest is Cary, Knightdale, & Garner. Cary is about 10-15 minutes from Raleigh and was voted one of the best places to live a few years ago. The crime rate is extremely low and there's plenty of shopping in Cary. Garner is 10-15 minutes from Raleigh and has also grown. Other smaller towns outside of Raleigh but a longer drive will be; Apex Wendell Zebulon Morrisville Holly Spings Rolesville Click link below to learn more about Raleigh (Wake county), North Carolina. Good Luck and I hope you like it. http://www.wakegov.com
