About 10 month old: Want to move to Raleigh N.C. so I don't have to work anymore and be a full time Mommy instead

10 month old: Want to move to Raleigh N.C. so I don't have to work anymore and be a full time Mommy instead?
I need outside opinions. About three and half years ago we moved to Raleigh from the DC area. We moved away from all family and friends. 6 months later we moved back to the DC area cuz "I missed my family, and wanted any future children to be close to the family." After the decision was made I regretted it, but the move back was already set in motion. After moving back we bought a house, and I got a great paying job with alot of benefits. I have no degree. 10 months ago we had a baby. Now I want to be a stay at home mommy. The only way it would be possible is to move back to Raliegh where my husband can make a good income, and the cost of living is half. The question is should we move back? I wonder if I will miss working. I worry that I will miss out on her, and she is growing up so fast. Thanks for listening to me.

Well that's a tuff one. You can always get a part time job if you miss working but will you end up missing your family again??

I'm a SAHM, and I can't imagine anything being more important or making me feel as happy as I do now. If this is important to you, I say go for it. We're actually at Camp Lejeune, NC so I know how it is to be away from family...for me though, it's still worth it to be able to be a SAHM.

I think it's more important to stay where you are and be near your family. They want a relationship with your daughter I'm sure. It's not going to kill you to work, a lot of moms do. It's a lot to ask your husband to just up and move his job too. I think you need to consider other people in this decision.

You and your husband are going to have to consider this carefully. There is nothing inherently wrong with either decision but you need to really consider what's more important to you. Can you not live without your family nearby? Do you want to be a SAHM because of work pressures, or because you have really considered it. I have lived near and very far from my family and have both worked full time and stayed home with my little one, neither situation is perfect. Before you make another big move make sure you fully understand what you are getting into and how you will deal with any difficulties you find. It's not good to always be looking at the other side.

That is a tough one only because you love your families so much. I would choose to move back though. I love being a SAHM. I couldn't imagine going back to work and miss seeing those 9-10 hours of his day. I didn't have a degree and wasn't at a job that I planned on staying at forever. I wanted to go back to school and watch my son (hopefully more in the future) grow up. I wasn't comfortable with daycare and I didn't have any family or close reliable non-working friends that could watch him. I missed worked at first but seeing my son grow up is so much more rewarding. How far is DC from Raleigh. I'm not familiar with that part so much. Just remember that you have your computer (if your family has one to) that you can communicate daily and send pictures of your little one. As long as your husband and little one are up for the move I would say it would be worth it. I know your other family will know you are doing what is best for your family and yourself. Hope everything works out and Good Luck!!!

I would do whatever it took to be a SAHM. They are only little once and you could miss out on so many of their milestones. Plus, you forge a bond when they are small that stays with them. You could always work after she goes to school if you still need the money and want something to do while she is in school. DC is only a 5 hour drive, so you should be able to make regular trips to see family and they can possibly come here. As you know, Raleigh is a great place, who knows....maybe your family will decide to move here.

About where can I get a higher-end engagement ring in Raleigh, NC

Where can I get a higher-end engagement ring in Raleigh, NC?
I am new to the Raleigh area and am looking to purchase an engagement ring. Any recommendations on higher-end jewelers in the area? I'd like to deal with someone who can do some customized work - not looking to just pick one out of a small/standard collection. Thank you!

I've heard of Bailey's Fine Jewelry b/c I conduct an online business as well. But, not sure what they do about customizing. They're website is balileysfinejewelry.com
2 :
Bailey's in Cameron Village is probably the best place to start. The malls (North Hills, Crabtree, etc) have some too, mostly chains though.

Before you consider a job at McDonalds, check out www.mccruelty.com

Generally speaking, a person must be 16 or 17. However, it all depends on the laws, rules, and regulations in your State, as well as the hiring practices for McDonald's in your area.

Where can I find a list of cheap apartments for college students in the Raleigh/Cary NC areas?
I am looking for a 1 bedroom/studio apartment no roommates! The price has to be around $350-$400 I work in retail so I can't afford anymore than that right now.

Go to Google Maps, zoom in on your area, and find the menu on the map labeled "More...". Then, check the box that says "real estate." It should give you a big map full of homes for sale. You can adjust the settings on the navigation bar to the left to specify renting instead of selling, specify a price range, etc., etc.. Just make sure that whatever place you choose, you make sure it's a legit offer before you go ahead and buy it!
2 :
Your college probably has some listings, sometimes on the bulleton board in the student union. Other sources are the throwaway newspapers that are near campus. z
3 :
Maybe craigslist. But to be honest, as someone who's lived in the area for 15 years, I'll have to say that even a studio is going to cost more than that, unless you go to a sketchy, crime-ridden area. Raleigh area is expensive.

There are volunteer centres - usually at the municipal government level. Or look in the phone book for distress centres they are always looking for volunteers.
2 :
People in the nursing homes need someone to bring a smile to their face. To them, you may be a sister, daughter or grandchild. But that's ok, you gave them happiness in a world of darkness. Volunteer at a homeless shelter. A smile may make someones day. Volunteer at a local hospital. They always need help. Volunteer to sit with a sick person and let the caregiver have an hour or so to themselves. It does wonders for everyone concerned. Offer to go to the store for shut ins. They may be at a point they think noone cares. Read shut ins a story. Their eyes no longer may see.

Determine the need and service it. If the need is hair cuts and you can cut hair, cut hair. If the need is clothing and you know the size of the individual's you will service, buy the clothes. If the need is bathing and washing clothes, build a mobile shower/laundry that allows them to keep themselves clean. If the need is storage for things they carry with them because they have no place to put them, acquire 5' by 8' containers that you can put in a vacant lot, and provide them with access to the storage container (you keep the lock and keys). Determine the need and service it.

Try Habitat for Humanity...
