About My wife is a dental hygienist and is looking for a new employment in the Raleigh Durham area

My wife is a dental hygienist and is looking for a new employment in the Raleigh Durham area.?
The place she is now refuses to offer paid vacation time after being employed two years and working four days a week. She is paid for 36 hours a week and the dentist claims since she does not work 40 she is not full time.

That's not good.. tell her to look on Craigslist.org under healthcare jobs, theres usually doctors or clinics looking for Dental hygienists.

I cannot believe that he is saying that. Almost every definition of full time (like to be eligible for 401-k plans) is based on working 1000 hours per year. A 36 hour week puts her way over that. The dentist sounds like a greedy jerk that does not appreciate his staff. Legally I doubt that anything can be done as to vacation policy, like the requirements for profit sharing and health insurance. But if that is how he is treating your wife and how much he appreciates her, I would have her look for another job, find one, and give her 2 week notice. She could just leave without notice after her current pay check and tell him that seeing she is not full time, she didn't think she had to give 2 week notice. Good luck to her.

About PCSing to Italy, how does it work taking a pet

PCSing to Italy, how does it work taking a pet?
DH and I were thinking about getting a cat because they can go in cabin with you during your flight we were wondering what the regulations are PCSing to Italy with a pet. The cat we are looking at getting is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and pretty much ready to go. We have everything required for her to be on base (Naples). Is there a quarantine process that she would need to go through? Our flight goes from Raleigh to Philadelphia to Germany to Italy.

Best bet.... check with the vet office on base for all the rules and regulations. You will have a ton of paperwork to fill out and your cat will have to go through customs. BTW.. googling "import cat italy" brought up lots of good links! Sugerman... not every country has a quarantine law. Most of mainland Europe has none.

To have an animal brought to any country needs quarintined. The area may have a web site to ask your questions.

About Someone in the Raleigh NC area help me out

Someone in the Raleigh NC area help me out?
I just came from Chicago, where I had a job as a waitress/singer. It was a very cool little lounge where the waiters were also singers. We would rotate on and off the stage, singing a song, and then passing the mike to another waiter. We went to practices and worked out a schedual of songs for each night. Anyways, I was wondering if there was someplace like that in the Raleigh area? I'm staying down here now and would LOVE to work in a place like that. Thanks!

I don't believe we have anything like that here yet. There's a good few bars downtown that'll have Karaoke nights...but that's it.

About Does Tracfone® have texting plans

Does Tracfone® have texting plans?
I am getting a Tracfone® and I was wondering if you set aside certain amounts of units to get a plan. And if you get one in say Suffolk(va) will it work in Raleigh(va) or Gates(nc)?

Tracfone has no plans at all, let alone anything for texting.... A tracfone will likely work in those areas as that it utilizes other networks for the actual service.

About 10 month old: Want to move to Raleigh N.C. so I don't have to work anymore and be a full time Mommy instead

10 month old: Want to move to Raleigh N.C. so I don't have to work anymore and be a full time Mommy instead?
I need outside opinions. About three and half years ago we moved to Raleigh from the DC area. We moved away from all family and friends. 6 months later we moved back to the DC area cuz "I missed my family, and wanted any future children to be close to the family." After the decision was made I regretted it, but the move back was already set in motion. After moving back we bought a house, and I got a great paying job with alot of benefits. I have no degree. 10 months ago we had a baby. Now I want to be a stay at home mommy. The only way it would be possible is to move back to Raliegh where my husband can make a good income, and the cost of living is half. The question is should we move back? I wonder if I will miss working. I worry that I will miss out on her, and she is growing up so fast. Thanks for listening to me.

Well that's a tuff one. You can always get a part time job if you miss working but will you end up missing your family again??

I'm a SAHM, and I can't imagine anything being more important or making me feel as happy as I do now. If this is important to you, I say go for it. We're actually at Camp Lejeune, NC so I know how it is to be away from family...for me though, it's still worth it to be able to be a SAHM.

I think it's more important to stay where you are and be near your family. They want a relationship with your daughter I'm sure. It's not going to kill you to work, a lot of moms do. It's a lot to ask your husband to just up and move his job too. I think you need to consider other people in this decision.

You and your husband are going to have to consider this carefully. There is nothing inherently wrong with either decision but you need to really consider what's more important to you. Can you not live without your family nearby? Do you want to be a SAHM because of work pressures, or because you have really considered it. I have lived near and very far from my family and have both worked full time and stayed home with my little one, neither situation is perfect. Before you make another big move make sure you fully understand what you are getting into and how you will deal with any difficulties you find. It's not good to always be looking at the other side.

That is a tough one only because you love your families so much. I would choose to move back though. I love being a SAHM. I couldn't imagine going back to work and miss seeing those 9-10 hours of his day. I didn't have a degree and wasn't at a job that I planned on staying at forever. I wanted to go back to school and watch my son (hopefully more in the future) grow up. I wasn't comfortable with daycare and I didn't have any family or close reliable non-working friends that could watch him. I missed worked at first but seeing my son grow up is so much more rewarding. How far is DC from Raleigh. I'm not familiar with that part so much. Just remember that you have your computer (if your family has one to) that you can communicate daily and send pictures of your little one. As long as your husband and little one are up for the move I would say it would be worth it. I know your other family will know you are doing what is best for your family and yourself. Hope everything works out and Good Luck!!!

I would do whatever it took to be a SAHM. They are only little once and you could miss out on so many of their milestones. Plus, you forge a bond when they are small that stays with them. You could always work after she goes to school if you still need the money and want something to do while she is in school. DC is only a 5 hour drive, so you should be able to make regular trips to see family and they can possibly come here. As you know, Raleigh is a great place, who knows....maybe your family will decide to move here.
